Man killed on street 'was being chased by thug trio'

A MAN murdered on a quiet street was stabbed and slashed after being chased by a gang of three thugs, it has been revealed.

The horrific attack has left people living in the village where it happened shocked at the depravity on their doorstep.

Yesterday, the victim was named as Joe Jnr Buchanan, who lived in the Lanarkshire village of Douglas.

Witnesses said the 35-year-old fled his home on Sunday evening after the trio tried to smash their way in.

Despite his attempts to escape, the gang caught up with Mr Buchanan on Springhill Street and proceeded to repeatedly slash and stab him.
