Living in poor area 'doubles dementia risk'

PEOPLE living in poorer areas are more than twice as likely to develop dementia as those in the most affluent parts, research suggests.

A study also found the thinking and memory skills of those living in the most disadvantaged places declined quicker.

The American researchers note the findings do not prove that residential factors cause the debilitating condition, but do show an association.
