THE five Scots detained by authorities in Dubai could face up to two years in a hellhole prison awaiting extradition before learning their fate, it has been revealed.

Drugs kingpin Ross “Miami” McGill, Steven Lyons and Stephen Jamieson were among those held in early-morning swoops this week.
It is understood that they are suspected of being involved in serious and organised crime.
However, there has been no official word yet from British authorities on what lies behind their arrests.
Tt is not known where they are being held.
McGill, 31, Lyons, 44, and Jamieson, 41, all from Glasgow, have been living in Dubai for some time.
The fourth suspect is another Glaswegian, Steven Larwood, 41. The identity of the fifth man has not been disclosed although he is believed to be a friend of McGill’s from Edinburgh.
While details are sketchy, many foreigners awaiting extradition are held in the notorious Dubai Central Prison or Al-Awir as locals call it.
Murders
In one recent case, a suspect arrested on behalf of Irish authorities was detained in the jail - described by another inmate as giving him “nightmares”. Sean McGovern, 38, was held on suspicion of carrying out five murders back in his native Dublin on behalf of the Kinahan organised crime group.
In May, he became the first Irishman to be extradited from Dubai after the UAE government began to crack down on foreign criminals.
