Jamie Greene pressed to quit as MSP

JAMIE GREENE has been urged to stand down as an MSP by the chairman of his local Scottish Conservatives association.

The West of Scotland representative quit the party yesterday, with a parting shot at "Trump-like" policies and "Reform-lite agenda".

He criticised the Tories stance on gender and insisted they "have left him" rather than the other way round.

In a letter to leader Russell Findlay, he said he joined as a One Nation Conservative under Ruth Davidson and claimed that party "simply no longer exists".

His decision was slated by David Rocks, chairman of the North Ayrshire constituency association.

He said Mr Greene was elected from the regional list and therefore "indebted" to his local association, which he claims has been "neglected" by the now independent MSP.
