JACK'S STATES OF MIND

JACK MILNE knows a big Conference League display against Strasbourg tonight could strengthen his bid to make Scotland's World Cup finals squad next summer.

- BY SCOTT BURNS

Milne has been a regular for the Dons since they lifted the Scottish Cup in May and also represented his country at Under-21 level - and hed love to win full caps, with the added incentive of the North American finals, where Steve Clarke's men face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil.

Former Aberdeen and Scotland stars Andrew Considine and Willie Miller have tipped the young centre-half to gain international recognition.

And Milne recognises a decent showing against the Ligue 1 side, who have already qualified for the knockout stages, would help his cause to line up in dark blue in Boston and Miami next June.

The 22-year-old said: "Playing for my country has been a target since I was a kid. I'm just focused on playing as well as I can for Aberdeen and performing to the best of my abilities.

"I don't need extra motivation but it's always something that has been in my mind.

"It's nice if you are spoken about in those terms but a few bad games and it can all change very quickly so I'm just keeping my head down, working hard.
