Hotter than Madrid as Scotland faces danger of wildfires

SCOTS face the risk of extreme wildfires this week due to tinderbox conditions on the hills.

Fire chiefs have begged anyone going to the countryside to avoid naked flames, which could result in blazes which could burn for days.

With little or no rainfall on the horizon before the weekend, the month could end up one of the driest on record.

By Friday, parts of western Scotland can expect summer-like highs of 17C (63F). If that forecast is accurate, parts of Scotland will be warmer than Madrid where downpours are expected all day.
