REVIEWS WE ALMOST MISSED

The passage of time is such that one of the most recognisable voices in British pop is now 64 years of age.

This reissue commemorates the 30th anniversary of Somerville’s second solo album, following on from his great success with Bronski Beat and The Communards. Singles Heartbeat and the reggae-tinged Hurt So Good both reached the top 20 in 1995, and this fully remastered album comes in double vinyl or 2CD version, with a plethora of B-sides, rarities and remixes, including a supremely funky version of Sylvester's Do You Wanna Funk?

YESFLY FROM HERE - RETURN TRIP(SPIRIT OF UNICORN)★★★An album that has had a somewhat convoluted life.Originally released in 2011, Yes had to deal with Jon Anderson being too ill to contribute, so they enlisted Benoit David, who was seen fronting a Yes tribute band. When producer Trevor Horn clashed with Rick Wakeman. the keyboards man was kicked out and replaced by Horn's Buggles pal Geoff Downes. Yes then decided to revisit the album in 2018, and replace David's vocals with Horn singing. The Buggles duo surprisingly offer a lot to the prog band's sound, and this fresh remix also accentuates the contribution of bassist Chris Squire, who died back in 2015.
