FRIGHT NIGHT FOR TERRORS
Scottish Daily Express
|February 18, 2026
DUNDEE United booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup with a win that was Spartan in name and nature.
Jim Goodwin's relieved side can now look forward to a last-eight clash at Falkirk next month.
United - who had Iurie Iovu red carded early on - looked home and hosed after goals in either half from skipper Ross Graham and Amar Fatah.
The League Two pacesetters had other ideas, however, and pulled a late goal back through their top scorer Mark Stowe to make it a nervy and very uncomfortable finale.
The Terrors managed to see it through, though, and avoid back-to-back disasters against Spartans.
It was a case of too little too late for Dougie Samuel's side who bowed out with their heads held high and can now get back to the more immediate priority of trying to win League Two.
United will just be delighted to get through and keep their hopes of silverware alive.
Following a postponed first attempt at getting this tie played earlier this month due to a waterlogged pitch, the Tannadice ground staff should be applauded for their efforts while a slight improvement in the weather meant the game got the green light second time around.
