Father acquitted of abusing Jakob

JAKOB INGEBRIGTSEN'S father has been acquitted of abusing the Olympic middle-distance gold medallist.

But he was found guilty of hitting his younger daughter with a wet towel.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen, 59, was handed a suspended 15-day sentence and fined 10,000 krone (£744), following a trial that rocked the running world.

The court in the small city of Sandnes in Norway found that there was "reasonable doubt" Gjert had not inflicted physical and psychological harm on Jakob following a series of allegations, including beating him.
