Falklands warship could swoop in to save medals haul

A FALKLANDS warship could sail to the rescue of a priceless collection of bravery medals at risk of being shipped out of the UK.
HMS Ambuscade is poised to become a floating museum for 230 Victoria Crosses and a smaller number of George Crosses that were set to be permanently removed from public display.
The vessel, sold to Pakistan in 1993, was set to be sunk but has now been gifted to Britain and could soon make a triumphant return by displaying the medals.
Tribute
Its homecoming has coincided with the closure of the Lord Ashcroft Gallery at the Imperial War Museum on June 1, which houses the collection of gallantry awards.
