Ex-Hibs chief Rod Petrie dies aged 69

THE former chairman and chief executive of Hibernian Football Club Rod Petrie has passed away, aged 69.

Petrie served at Easter Road for more than 20 years and also held positions at the Scottish Football Association, including working as president.

Mr Petrie joined the Hibs board of directors in 1996, becoming managing director in 1997 and chairman in 2004, and left the club in 2019 after American businessman Ron Gordon purchased a majority stake.

Saddened

During his time with the Leith-based club, they reached four Scottish Cup finals, winning the 2016 showpiece in a dramatic game against Rangers to lift the cup for the first time in 114 years. They also won the League Cup in 2007, beating Kilmarnock.
