Dermot: I fell through a prostate cancer test gap

DERMOT Murnaghan has spoken of falling through the gaps and having a “wake-up call” after being diagnosed with cancer.

The former Sky News presenter, 67, who announced he had stage four prostate cancer in June, has urged other men to get tested.

At an event hosted by charity Prostate Cancer UK, he said he was “responding positively” to treatment.

Dermot said it “never occurred” to him that medical tests he had regularly for work did not include one for PSA [prostate-specific antigen].

The broadcaster added: “For years I thought, ‘That will do me’ I’m getting tested basically once a year or every couple of years.
