Cash will be available to new boss

PATRICK STEWART has promised Russell Martin he'll be handed a significant chunk of the £20million set to be injected into the Ibrox club by Rangers' new American owners.

Andrew Cavenagh and his partners from the San Francisco 49ers completed their £75m takeover last week and immediately announced plans to plough another substantial eight-figure sum into the Gers coffers.

That will take place when a share issue, underwritten by the US consortium, is launched on June 23.

But plans on how the cash will be used are already being drawn up and Martin has been assured he'll get plenty to spend. Chief exec Stewart said: "I think it's very public knowledge about the primary investment coming in.

Obviously, that's going to be approved.
