WITH the long Easter weekend starting on Friday, millions of Britons are preparing to tackle DIY jobs around the home — but insurance experts are urging caution.

More than a third of home insurance claims are for accidental damage, new claims data from Aviva shows, making it the most common type of claim.
With tools, paint and ladders coming out over the bank holidays the risks are real, including feet going through roofs and plasterboards, which in one claim caused an entire ceiling to collapse.
