Youth yearn for peace on earth

NATIONAL Youth Day, observed annually on June 16, commemorates the desire of youth for access to quality education and it marks the potential of youth to move the world towards peace.

Our youth are full of energy and enthusiasm. They yearn for peace, and have the potential to become catalysts for building a better and peaceful world. However, they must prepare themselves for this task.

The Universal House of Justice, the international governing council of the Bahá'í Faith, states that “the transformation which is to occur in the functioning of society will certainly depend to a great extent on the effectiveness of the preparations the youth make for the world they will inherit”.

The most effective way to shape the values, attitudes, behaviours, and skills of our youth — in preparation for creating peaceful communities and a better world — is through a balanced education. A meaningful and balanced education would guide our children and youth in their moral empowerment, as well as their intellectual development.
