Used vehicle market shows robust growth

South Africa has seen a surge in demand for new vehicles, with September's sales reaching a 10-year high of 54700 units, but used car sales are also experiencing a healthy uptick.

Data from vehicle listing giant AutoTrader for September 2025 shows used vehicle sales increased by 16.4% year-on-year to 33907 units.

Its sales chart for used cars shows that South Africans are prioritising value and reliability over status as affordable models continue to grow their sales.
