Kerala HC quashes POCSO, forgery case against Asianet scribes

The Kerala High Court has quashed charges against six journalists from Malayalam news channel Asianet, who were accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly revealing the identity of a minor sexual assault victim during a programme on drug abuse.

The prosecution claimed that the journalists conspired to damage the state government’s reputation by airing a programme named “Narcotics is a dirty business”, which allegedly used the victim’s voice without consent and involved impersonation using the daughter of one of the journalists.
