Goal difference sees young soccer stars reach final

GOAL difference was the decider to determine which school would go forward to represent Rossendale after the final left two schools in joint first place.
Teams line up for the Rossendale Year 5 and 6 mixed football event
Fabulous footballers from Waterfoot Primary School will attend the Lancashire Year 5 and 6 mixed football final in January, with Water Primary coming second.
Rossendale School Sports Partnership School Games Organiser Nathan Bibby organised two qualifying heats at The Valley Leadership Academy, Stacksteads, after 22 primary schools signed up to take part. The school games value for the tournament was respect and Nathan explained to players and parents how important it was for all involved to respect each other before the matches started.
One qualifier had 12 teams in and the second had 10, with five teams going forward.
Nathan said: “In the final we had teams representing Helmshore, Waterfoot, Holy Trinity, St John’s Stonefold and Water.
