Weeks after arrest, hotel-damage mum still stuck in Turkey
Rochdale Observer

A ROCHDALE mum, who has been stuck in Turkey for weeks, has been hit with a hefty fine after making the 'worst mistake of her life' while drunk.
Georgia Harrison, 32, was arrested when trying to leave the Lexia Hotel in Antalya on May 7, after a night of celebrating her boyfriend getting new veneers installed.
Georgia says it was during these celebrations that she blacked out and smashed a glass bathroom screen in her hotel room.
However, the mum says in the morning she left the hotel in a taxi, without alerting the hotel to the damage which was caused the night before.
She claims her cab was then flagged down and blocked in, before police were called, and she was arrested before she says she was held in a Turkish prison cell for multiple days with 'hundreds of men.
After this ordeal, the mum claims she was then forced to appear in court in front of a judge, who allegedly ordered Georgia to pay a sum of £15,000, which if she did not pay, she would be prohibited from leaving the country.
The embassy reportedly suggested she looked to instruct a lawyer, who she says has tried to intervene in the matter and work through the ban to permit her to return home by offering a sum of £3,000 in damages, Georgia told the Observer.
