Gomez-Mancini in to add creativity

JIM McNulty’s Rochdale squad returned for preseason training this week with a new addition among the ranks - attacking midfielder Anthony Gomez-Mancini.

The 24-year-old has signed an initial one-year deal after departing Hartlepool United earlier in the summer.

Gomez-Mancini, who spent the last two seasons in the North East, commented: “I’m really happy. My agent told me about the project here, and we had a meeting with the head coach.

“He explained to me about how we were going to play and where he was going to put me in the squad, and it sounded good.

“I am a midfielder, and I like to attack.

“I’m a technical player, creative, and I like to make things happen.

“I like to enjoy my football and play freely on the pitch. I think I can bring my qualities to the squad.”

Born near Lyon, France, Gomez-Mancini spent time in the youth setups at Saint-Priest, Olympique Lyonnais and Tours, before moving to now Ligue 1 club Angers.

During his time in their second team, he was capped by France Under-18s and 19s, appearing in the prestigious Toulon Tournament.
