Dale fan Ali sets sights on title fights

ROCHDALE'S Muhammad Ali, the world’s first type 1 diabetic professional boxer, put on an impressive show at Bowlers Arena on the Blackflash Promotions Show.

Ali, managed by former British light welterweight champion Pat Barrett, boxed a very tough Tanzanian opponent, Issa Maneva, who had won 11 of his previous 16 bouts, five by knockout.
On this occasion he was stopped him in the eighth round as Ali claimed victory via knockout.
"It was a tough fight, I knew I had to be switched on from the start as he was coming to cause an upset," Ali said.
