Businesses taste success with chocolate festival

LAST month, it was announced that one of Greater Manchester's most popular bakeries and tearooms, loved for its chocolates and cakes, would be heading over to Rochdale to host a first-of-its-kind chocolate festival.

Slattery, a three-storey bakery and chocolate shop on Bury New Road in Whitefield, confirmed a huge collaboration with a fellow Greater Manchester business, The Oxford Pub in Rochdale.

And earlier this month (April 13), hundreds turned out to try the treats being served up by the confectionary masters as two businesses held the sweet-fuelled celebration within the grounds of the pub, the latter of which is run by publican Tom McNeeney and his family.

They have become known for their annual Christmas Markets at the pub, and this time they transformed the outdoor area into a chocolate haven, serving up hot desserts, hot chocolates and even more treats.
