War is a danse macabre!

Currently, war clouds are looming large over Indian subcontinent.The tragic incident on April 22 in which 28 innocent tourists were killed by terrorists at Pahalgam in the state of Jammu & Kashmir has brought India and Pakistan on the brink of a military conflict.

India has accused Pakistan of orchestrating the audacious attack on the unsuspecting Indian citizens, and has vowed to identify, trace and neutralise the terrorists and their mentors. India's resolve to punish the terrorists and their backers, who are hiding in the neighbour-ing country, has heightened tension between the two nuclear-armed nations. With India announcing a raft of measures to teach Pakistan a lesson, a war like situation has emerged. This is a worrisome development as war is not a solution to any problem, it is a problem in itself. War is a death's danse macabre. Thus, it should not be encouraged. Besides, no one emerges a clear winner in the war. The soi-distant victory is always a pyrrhic victory for which a victor has to pay a heavy price. War is a monster that consumes soldiers, citizens and resources.Besides, it is synonymous with body count and destruction of crucial resources. I
