Punjab Times (English Edition)

October 25, 2025

Professor Dr. Krishan Kumar RattuToday, a golden era of Indian advertising art has come to an end.

The sensitive star of the Indian advertising world, Ad Guru Piyush Pandey, is no longer in this world. This morning in Mumbai, his sudden demise has sent a wave of shock through the Indian advertising fraternity—that is, the world of advertising—because Piyush Pandey was one of those luminaries of Indian advertising art who had been blessed with the gift of grasping the pulse of the Indian masses and common people. The creator of iconic Indian advertising slogans like Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar, and Fevicol’s immortal taglines—Piyush Pandey has stepped beyond life’s own tagline. A sensitive soul deeply in love with art, Piyush Pandey was a friend to friends. Today, Jaipur—the city where he was born—is steeped in profound sadness. Friends like us, who shared cups of coffee with him at Jawahar Kala Kendra and listened to his stories about how ad lines are born, have been bereaved by his passing.

With his sensitive memories, Piyush Pandey has now become immortal in the hearts of crores of people. His lines were on everyone's lips. This great artist of Indian advertising, Piyush Pandey, passed away on Thursday at the age of 70. The first news of his demise was shared on Instagram by his sister, Tripti Pandey.

She wrote: "Our beloved brother, Piyush Pandey, passed away this morning. He was not only a star in the world of Indian advertising but will continue to shine in the hearts of lakhs of people influenced by his sensitive lines."Piyush Pandey is credited with giving Indian advertising a unique style and identity. He had been associated with the advertising company Ogilvy India for over 40 years.
