Jared, a pupil from Trenance Manor Secondary in Phoenix, was just a week away from his first matric exam paper, when he underwent emergency surgery at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, a turn of events that would have deterred many.

However, not only did he persist, but he shattered expectations by completing most of his exams while in isolation at the hospital.

Jared’s efforts did not go unnoticed.
