Killing for profit is a moral crisis
Post
|September 03, 2025
DOWNRIGHT greed, desperation and deception are the driving forces behind insurance-related murder plots.
-
It’s a chilling intersection of financial motive and moral collapse.
According to the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa, the number of detected murder-for-money insurance fraud cases tripled - from 54 in 2023 to 161 in 2024.
These cases are part of a broader wave of 5 505 fraudulent life insurance claims, with 38 confirmed murder-for-money incidents which, if they went undetected, would have cost the industry R220 million in 2024 alone.
The numbers are a grim reminder of how far some will go when morality is eclipsed by money.
