Michelle van der Westhuizen, die projekbestuurder van Ngwana Babahuis, verduidelik dat ander instansies soms ook babas inneem, maar as deel van groter gesinne, wat beteken dat ouer kinders ook teenwoordig is.

"Ander instansies word nou gedwing om babas in te neem omdat daar probeer word om boeties en sussies bymekaar te hou," sê sy.

Die Departement van Maatskaplike Ontwikkeling vereis nou dat die kinders se primêre versorgers by Ngwana Babahuis kwalifikasies in kinderen jeugwerk (CYCW) moet hê.
