Gender disparity; corruption matters raised by EFF

In recent weeks, Limpopo Provincial Government has been criticised from both the EFF and the Conty Lebepe Foundation for what they termed gender discrimination and corruption within the administration.

On Sunday, the EFF, the official opposition party in the province, raised concerns about the lack of female representation in senior management positions. The party pointed out that only three women were appointed out of the 11 heads of departments (HODs). The three women, they claimed, were not permanently appointed, but instead were placed in acting roles, while their male counterparts held permanent contracts. This disparity, according to the EFF, undermines efforts to achieve gender equality and reflects a patriarchal system within provincial government.
