A sex attacker who raped a sleeping woman in her bed after earlier being asked to leave her home was jailed this week.

Maxwell Muirhead offered to share a taxi with the victim and her friend after they were out drinking before ending up at her address in Perth.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that when they arrived at her home Muirhead asked if he could come in.

Advocate depute Eilidh Robertson said: “Both women told the accused that they had boyfriends and were not interested in him sexually.”

The prosecutor said Muirhead (27) assured them he just wanted to socialise and he was let into the property.

But the women started to become uncomfortable with his behaviour and he was asked to leave but did not do so, she said.
