Proud chairman John Needham says St Mirren's League Cup celebrations in front of Paisley Town Hall brought a tear to his eye.

Tears of joy from chairman

The Buddies lifted only the fifth major trophy in their history on Sunday night after a memorable 3-1 win over Old Firm giants Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup Final at Hampden.

Stephen Robinson, who has previously guided the club to three top-six Premiership finishes in a row and European football, became arguably the greatest manager in the club's history by securing silverware.

Beaming Buddies welcomed the triumphant team back into the town centre for the ultimate Christmas party.

And Needham admits he was overcome with emotion as he watched the club and town celebrate together as one.

"As a Paisley boy," he said, "it brings a tear to my eye [the celebrations outside the town hall] to be honest.
