Rail fares policy change is 'huge difference'

A Renfrewshire MSP has welcomed a policy announcement which will see peak rail fares scrapped.
-
Green MSPs in the Scottish Parliament first secured a trial removal of rush-hour pricing in 2023.
Despite this resulting in 10 million extra journeys being taken by train in just 12 months, the Scottish Government reintroduced peak fares last year.
However, First Minister John Swinney has now U-turned and confirmed that peak fares will be permanently scrapped from September.
