In the past week, millions of people across our country came together to remember those who have fallen in war.

Local towns and villages marked Remembrance Sunday

On Remembrance Sunday, I was honoured, as one of the Members of the Scottish Parliament, to lay wreaths in Elderslie, Johnstone, Neilston and Barrhead.

Each ceremony paid tribute to the people who never returned to those towns and villages from two world wars, and subsequent conflicts.

On Armistice Day, I was privileged to be invited to the Armistice Day Service organised by the Linwood War Memorial Association.

The ceremony took place outside the Linwood War Memorial site where this time next year a ‘living memorial’ to the fallen of Linwood will stand.

It can’t be stressed enough just how important it is to hold these remembrance events each year, especially as less people who lived through these conflicts remain to tell their stories.
