Upgrade works for the "iconic"Charleston Clock Tower in Paisley will now begin at the end of this month.

- JACK THOMSON, LOCAL DEMOCRACY REPORTER

Renfrewshire Council had planned for minor improvements such as painting at the landmark, which sits at the corner of Neilston Road and Stock Street, to take place in August.

However, it is understood the local authority encountered a “number of issues” and had no choice but to adjust the timeline for the job. A start date of Sunday, September 28, has since been set.

Councillor Eddie Devine, who represents Paisley Southeast, has reiterated he is looking forward to the works being carried out at the structure.
