Club legend hails power of football after super Saints make it to League Cup Final

St Mirren hero Tony Fitzpatrick has spoken about the power of football and how it can pull people together after watching the club reach the Premier Sports Cup Final.

The former Buddies player, manager and chief executive was grinning from ear to ear after his team beat Motherwell 4-1 at Hampden on November 1.

Stephen Robinson's men will now face Celtic in the Sunday, December 14 showpiece at the national stadium.

Fitzpatrick says he has been seeing the positive effects of results on the pitch off it for some time now.

He believes a hat-trick of top-six finishes in the Premiership, as well as bringing European football back to Paisley, is inspiring the younger generation.

The 69-year-old, who runs prize draw company LegacyComps which aims to give back to communities and charities, insists the feelgood factor is prevalent.
