Saints boss humbled by congratulations from Manchester United legend
Stephen Robinson yesterday told how he received a message of congratulations from Sir Alex Ferguson after St Mirren won the League Cup.
The Buddies boss was “humbled” after the godfather of Scottish football got in touch following his side's 3-1 win over Celtic at Hampden last Sunday.
Ex-Saints gaffer Ferguson passed on his best wishes to Robbo who led the club to their first major piece of silverware in 12 years.
The moment was set up by Saints legend Tony Fitzpatrick who later confirmed to the Northern Irishman that the message was the real deal.
"I thought it was a windup from one of my boys," he said. "But it wasn't. To say I was humbled is an understatement.
