Cycling club centenary is a cause for celebration

Renfrewshire councillors will be asked to congratulate Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club (JWCC) ahead of their 100th anniversary next year, writes Jack Thomson, Local Democracy Reporter.

A motion applauding the organisation for its "outstanding contribution" throughout the last century will be presented at today's full council.

It will be brought forward by Councillor Andy Doig, who represents Johnstone North and the surrounding villages, and seconded by Councillor John Hood, who represents Johnstone South and Elderslie.

The text states: "Renfrewshire Council congratulates the Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club on their 100th anniversary of their foundation in 2026 and applauds the club for the outstanding contribution they have made to Scottish, UK and international cycling over the last century."
