Autism support needs investment

I hope you managed to deal with the storm on Monday. I have never known a Paisley Fair Monday like it.

I walked about the area I live in on Tuesday and there were fences down and debris lying around everywhere I looked. So, a bit of tidying up for us to do.

Maybe I am looking through rose-tinted glasses but I have fond memories of Paisley Fair. My dad got his fortnight’s holidays from Brown and Polson’s factory on the south side of Paisley and most years, as a child, we headed off to places like Blackpool, Scarborough or the Isle of Man.

We were lucky and I have some great memories. It's a shame the Paisley Fair is now really a thing of the past and I spent some time over the weekend explaining to someone in their 30s where it originated from.

I know nothing stays the same but the first Monday in August will always be Paisley Fair to me.

This week, many of our young people received their exam results. Well done to all those who got the results they were looking for and, for those who didn’t, don’t despair, not all is lost.

I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities available.
