Renfrewshire Council must make “difficult decisions” on its spending priorities if it is to remain financially sustainable, according to its external auditor.

Azets offered the frank assessment as part of an audit of its 2024/25 accounts which will be presented at a special meeting next Thursday.

The company handed the local authority an amber rating - the second most serious grade it can issue behind red - for financial sustainability amid a stark economic environment.
