How rogue workmen were caught and effect they had on victims
Ormskirk Advertiser
|June 19, 2025
It is often said that our homes are our castles - so when it comes to essential maintenance we like to keep them in good order.
For most people, jobs like repairs to the roof or building extensions are best left to the experts, who have the tools and know how to do the job properly.
Sadly each year, dozens of rogue traders are jailed for preying on vulnerable householders, and carrying out work which does more harm than good.
Some victims are left with holes in their homes, exposing the interior to the elements. Others are left with incomplete work as the costs mount higher and higher.
These are some of the rogue traders who have been brought to justice this year - and the stories of their victims.
Pregnant woman feared losing baby after building firm left home 'uninhabitable'
A mum from Ormskirk has shared her fear of potentially losing her unborn child due to the "stress and misery" caused after contracting a building company that is now at the centre of rising consumer complaints.
Rachel Mordaunt had been pregnant when she contracted Celsius Home Improvements in early 2024. She paid the company £27,000 for an extension project that never came close to being finished.
