Nuapada: Nomination filing opens for bypoll

The nomination filing process for Nuapada bypoll began Monday with the issuance of a notification in this regard, even as the state’s two major political parties - the BJP and BJD - are yet to announce the names of their candidates.
The Congress has named Ghasiram Majhi as its candidate, and he is set to file nomination papers October 19, OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das said.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) RS Gopalan said with the issuance of the notification, the byelection process has officially started. He said candidates can file their nomination papers from Monday till October 20, and the papers will be scrutinised October 22, and the last date for withdrawal is October 24.
As per the notification, polling will take place November 11 and counting of votes is scheduled for November 14, he said.
