Young girl, 12, punched in face after alleged pitch rage by adult spectator

A MUM has been left angered by the police's decision to only caution a spectator who allegedly stormed onto a football pitch to punch her 12-year-old daughter in the face during a game.

Hannah Todd described the assault on her daughter Myla, which happened during an under 13s game, as “absolutely horrific”.

The alleged attacker - reportedly an 18-year-old spectator - was spoken to by police and has since been offered a conditional caution and ordered to pay compensation.

Both Ms Todd and Myla’s manager, Jo Meakin, have described the outcome as “mind-blowing”.

“It seems absolutely bizarre,” said Ms Todd, 32, from Calverton. “It shouldn't happen. They sometimes have a scuffle but for an adult to run on and punch her.”
