THE parents of a baby boy stillborn after failings at a Nottinghamshire hospital say it was "the worst thing any parent can go through".

Nikki Milner, 33, delivered still-born son Oscar at Bassetlaw Hospital on February 2, 2021. A legal investigation found that medics missed opportunities to deliver the baby sooner, which would have avoided his death.

Mrs Milner and husband Tom remain "hurt and upset" by the tragedy and have spoken out to advocate for improvements in maternity care.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), which admitted significant failings, said it was "deeply sorry.

Oscar was Mrs Milner's third child and the pregnancy was classified as high-risk due to her medical history, including pre-eclampsia, a condition which can cause serious complications.

Tragically, complications in the later stages of pregnancy led to Oscar's death shortly before his planned delivery at 37 weeks.
