'We want to see paved streets ... it could be a big opportunity to have events, markets and music'

AFTER years of frustration, feeling "invisible" and constant struggles with traffic noise, a family restaurant has decided that enough is enough and has launched a campaign to pedestrianise one of the city centre's busiest streets.

Despite being in a prime location for footfall, it is as if French Living is hidden away, as buses and delivery trucks block the view of the the decades-old family business.

The restaurant itself is in a triangle of buildings in King Street, which becomes Queen Street as it loops back to Upper Parliament Street.

Outside there is a steady stream of traffic due to six bus stops serving 17 different routes as well as several delivery bays which are "constantly" occupied by vans.

Pierre Luiggi, 27 and Annabelle Picard, 34, of French Living, explained: "The first thing is when we tell people about us, they don't know where we are. We don't have any visibility.

"We are in the city centre, less than five minutes away from the theatre, Victoria Centre and Old Market Square.
