Warning on website that sells bogus tram tickets

NOTTINGHAM’S tram operator says it is working with police to find the creators of a website selling fake tickets to passengers.

Nottingham Express Transport (NET) says it has seen several imitation tram tickets in circulation that were obtained from a fraudulent website, and warns that passengers using them could end up with a criminal record.

It follows years of warnings by NET about the consequences of dodging fares, with ticket inspectors now regularly travelling with passengers and having the power to issue on-the-spot fines to people travelling without a ticket.

Sarah Turner, managing director of NET, said: "We are aware of a number of imitation tram tickets currently in circulation, having been accessed from a fraudulent website. We remind all passengers that using a fake ticket of any description leaves them liable to being charged with intention to commit fraud.
