NEW BIOLOGICAL SEX GUIDELINES 'WILL LEGALISE DISCRIMINATION'
PROTESTERS rallied around the Brian Clough statue to show their support for transgender people after a controversial Supreme Court ruling.
Placards saying “We're not going anywhere” and “Trans rights are human rights” were held by people near the city-centre statue of the legendary Forest manager, which was wrapped in a transgender flag.
Last Wednesday, judges at the Supreme Court unaiumously ruled that the legal definition of a woman in the 2010 Equality Act is based on biological sex.
The ruling means transgender women with a Gender Recognition Certificate - a Government-issued document issued after someone legally changes sex - can be excluded from single-sex spaces if it deemed “proportionate”.
