Top of the class schools honour

A COMMUNITY of schools in Nottinghamshire has been rewarded for their efforts to inspire their pupils through sport and physical activity by walking away with a prestigious prize at the 2026 Youth Sport Trust Awards.
-
The Redhill Academy Trust, which looks after 20 schools across the county, was the proud winner of the Excellence in Enrichment Award, for which Wings School Notts in Kirklington was also shortlisted.
Investment in leadership roles involving PE, sport and co-curricular activities has allowed Redhill to run a wide and inclusive programme for more than 12,000 pupils under their care.
A tracking system across their schools helped them spot gaps in participation and create targeted programmes, like the 'Girls in Sport' working group and an inclusive sport strategy.
Director of PE Sarah Johnson said: "We've been working with the Youth Sport Trust for a very long time and this enrichment development for the Trust has been quite recent, in terms of our journey with them.
