ADELE'S HUSBAND WAS FATALLY STABBED - NOW SHE’S RAISING MONEY FOR LIFE-SAVING BLEED CONTROL KITS
A WIDOW whose husband was fatally stabbed is raising money for bleed kits that could save people’s lives.
James Cook, 40, was found unresponsive in Castle Gate, Newark, after being stabbed in the chest on April 30 at 11.53pm.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene minutes later, on May 1. Brandon Byrne, 22, was arrested a few hours later and charged with Mr Cook’s murder.
Byrne, of Winston Court, Newark, has pleaded not guilty, with James’ family now awaiting the defendant's trial due to start in November.
Adele Cook, 55, has spoken about the never-ending grief she and her family have been enduring since losing James, and about how she will keep his memory alive by campaigning against knife crime.
“People think grieving gets easier, but it doesn’t,” she said. Adele described the milestones James was robbed of when he was killed.
She said: “We went to Skegness recently and the last time I was there was with my husband. My granddaughter was born a month after he died. We're all dreading Christmas.
“T's his daughter's 18th in December. Our 10-year anniversary is next month. We were going to renew our wedding vows next year.
