WEST BRIDGFORD CAFE IS PERFECT SPOT FOR DELICIOUS BREAKFAST

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

UNLESS it’s pushing extreme temperatures when air conditioning is an absolute must, a sunny spell is best spent sitting outside your favourite pub, restaurant or cafe.

Whether it’s a pavement cafe on the high street or overlooking the picturesque lawns of somewhere special like Langar Hall, the change-able British weather means it’s crucial to seize the moment when the rays are out.

Sunglasses on, I headed to the tiny Middle Eastern cafe Fig & Olive in West Bridgford. It's been on my radar since it opened last year as the food looks enticing in their social media posts.

What drew me there this week was spotting a post about its hidden garden. You'd never know as you approach on busy Melton Road. There's a couple of bistro-style tables on the pavement at the front and two more inside plus a ledge with high stools to perch on.

The welcome is friendly but I'm instantly distracted by the array of delicious-looking cakes. Not the standard sponges or traybakes but something different - strawberry crumble cake and pistachio and kunafe cookies.
