Sarr: Coach was like a Dad to us at Tottenham
Nottingham Post
|September 12, 2025
TOTTENHAM Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has given Nottingham Forest fans a sense of Ange Postecoglou's character now he’s in charge at the City Ground.
And the Spurs enforcer has lifted the lid on the more empathetic side of the gruff Australian’s personality.
Postecoglou, 60, replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the Forest helm on Tuesday after the latter was sacked during the international break. And the former Spurs boss is in for a swift return to north London as he prepares to take charge of his first Forest game away against Arsenal in the Premier League tomorrow (12.30pm).
And Sarr is among Postecoglou's biggest advocates after giving a heartfelt account of the man behind the tactics board last year as he steered Spurs to Europa League glory.
“I think the coach is like a dad to us,” he told The Times.
“Because he helps us a lot, both on and off the field. He gives us advice even in non-football matters.
“On the pitch, we all know he demands a lot but then he's a real winner. I like him as he doesn't like losing, he’s very demanding and helps me improve from day to day.”
