ASSISTANT manager Terry Skiverton says AFC Wimbledon need to make the most of their opportunity in the League Two play-offs.

Sam fires winner for Dons as Mariners miss out

They won 1-0 away against Grimsby Town to finish fifth in the table and now face Notts County in the play-offs, with the first leg at Meadow Lane on Saturday, May 10 (8pm), before the return fixture a week later on May 17 (12.30pm).

Dons manager Johnnie Jackson was serving a touchline ban and watched from the stands at Blundell Park but despite not being close to his team, they got the job done to extend their season.

A draw would have been enough for Wimbledon but Sam Hutchinson's 53rd-minute strike ensured they moved up to fifth following the Magpies' home defeat against champions Doncaster Rovers.

"We're delighted," said Skiverton. "We had a game plan coming to a tough place to play against a strong team and we did our job.
